99 Dungeoneering in Runescape

5

Written on May 25, 2010 by Micki

By Jack
Hey readers of RuneScape Boards Blog! I’m Jack, from the moneymaking and explanation of skills section. I am writing a small blog on the latest skill, Dungeoneering, which I made a guide about and posted on the blog not long ago. Recently, Skiller 703 Achieved 99 Dungeoneering, and was the only person to get 100 (Wore Cape). However, he got a name change for some reason, to No Lifer Ohi .

Dungeoneering has been out for less than a month, and someone has got a 99 in a skill that everyone thought would take ages. ‘No Lifer Ohi’ will no doubt acheive 120 Dungeoneering, just so he can be #1 in RuneScape.

Other old members are making a comeback, Zezima is level 68 Dungeoneering and ShySteph is level 95 Dungeoneering.

That was just a little blog post to tell you that it has been acheived, and that the new semi-max total level is now given.

Jack’s guide to Dungeoneering (XP rewards)

By Jack
Hi everyone, My name is Jack Wootton, and this is my Blog post for RSB’s Blog and RSH to show you what the different rewards are for the new RuneScape skill, Dungeoneering, and also what new armour, trees, rocks etc there are in the skill.

A bit of background information about the skill first. The Skill Dungeoneering was released on the 12th April 2010 (Two days before my birthday!), and is based in an area of Runescape called Daemonhaim. You get to Daemonhaim by catching a boat behind Al Kharid Bank. You cannot take items/food/weapons into the Dungeons, as you have to make everything/collect it yourself.

To get the Untrimmed Skillcape in Dungeoneering, you need level 99, regardless of how many 99’s you have. However, If you get level 120 Dungeoneering, which is possible with 110 Million Experience, you get a trimmed version, which is called True Skill Mastery Cape.

What is new

When you play Dungeoneering games, there are 35 floors. You start at floor 1, and when you have completed it, you can challenge floor 2, if you have the level required to start it. To reach the top floor (35), you need level 69 Dungeoneering.

Bosses

At every level, to pass it you (If solo) or your team must kill the boss. There are 16 different bosses, which are unlocked at certain Dungeoneering levels, and their combat level depends on yours. If you have a large team, the combat will be slightly higher.

Item Binding

When you are in a Dungeon, you can make items. These item(s) can be bound to you, depending on your level. You should bind your best weapon, as armour is easily made, and once bound, you keep it forever in every game until you sell it. At level 1 you can bind 1 item. Level 50 is binding 2 items, level 100 is 3 items, and level 120 is 4 items. So at level 120, you could bind a weapon, platelegs, platebody, full helm/shield/gaunts/boots or any variation of those.

Rewards

When you play games of Dungeoneering you get tokens as a reward, as well as xp. The tokens are 1/10 of the xp you gained, so if you gained 264 xp, you’d get 26 tokens, but if you gained 265 tokens, you’d get 27 (rounding).

There are 13 rewards available to non members and 15 which are exclusive to Pay-To-Play Members. The rewards also require other stats.

Runescape’s New Skill – Dungeoneering

2

Written on April 18, 2010 by Micki

By Slayergramp

Great news! The new skill is finally out! And it’s called Dungeoneering! An elaborate mix between the words Dungeon, and Engineering. Why put these words together? Because the whole skill is based off of different puzzles, and mazes to be done in a gigantic dungeon. So I guess that’s “Engineering” in a “Dungeon” *Wink* *Wink*.

This whole skill is kind of confusing at start, but easy to get the hang of. I’m not very good at it, nor I have I done it very much, but I’m explaining it anyways.

You head off the the blazing hot town of Al Karid, and head to the only bank in the city. Behind the bank is a newly added dock that has a Fremenik Sailor. You ask him to sail, and BAM! You’re off to “Daemonheid” which is an Island 60x The Size Of Falador as Jagex describes it. I’d say the island is pretty small, but if you put all the dungeons they have set up for you, it would easily pass the description.
So you climb to the top of this island and there’s a little camp, in the camp is one person who claims he will give you the cape of mastery in Dungeoneering if you prove you went to the deepest floor in the castle, head north to find the castle. Speaking of the skillcape, did you know this skill goes to level 120. The only skill that goes past 99. At the level of 99, you get the cape of mastery. If you get to level 120 in this skill, you buy a new cape which is trimmed, and you don’t need a second 99.
So, in the castle, you will be in the lobby which has tons of players in it requesting to be in a party. These parties are used to enter the different dungeons. There is one dungeon which you can go alone, but it usually doesn’t give as much experience.

Try it! It’s fun!

Favourite Runescape skill? and why? Mining, just seems like a very classic skill that almost everyone liked when they first started Runescape. When I first started I remember telling a friend “I’m going to get in the mining business!” but I was probably high.

How do you best go about training this skill? Granite for under level 77 and Living Rock Caverns, nerfed skills for the win!

Are you a Free 2 Play or Pay 2 Play member? and why? Pay to Play because there is only so much to do in the free game and it gets frustrating knowing there is better training/money making/activities etc. to do.

Favourite or best way to make money on Runescape? and why? Godwars, its really fun and if you do it long enough you will be insanely rich.

Any other Runescape money making tips? Money making with skills is the best way to go, I’ve never liked any of the picking stuff from respawns or merching crap.

Dragonfire Shield – Provides amzing def bonus while also giving a sweet attack bonuses and compared to spirit shields prices its amazing.
Infinity Boots – These go with any outfit!

What you like doing most on Runescape? and why?
I can’t say I always like it but skilling is what I do most but I love seeing the reward of getting a total level or xp milestone.

Favourite Runescape mini game? and why?
Without a doubt and I’m sure most my friends now it’s Barbarian Assault. I love the team aspect of it mostly and it helps when you know what you’re doing and have a lot of practise.

What do you think the future holds for Runescape? and why?
I definately think that I have the tools to max out my total level because I play a lot and manage to stick to skill goals at a good pace.

Your three biggest tips and pieces of advice for players just starting Runescape?
Play A LOT! But not continously.
Do some reading and talking, theres so much to learn.
Don’t get dulled by the boringness starting out (it gets a lot better).

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Runescape experience?
Never think that you won’t get to a certain goal. If you stay consistent its always worth trying, just ask Jack.

How did you find out about Runescape Boards?
I was F2P and couldn’t post on the RSOF so I went out looking for another place to learn and express what I thought about the game.

What made you stay at Runescape Boards?
I’m not too active on the entire forum, but I love looking at Goals and Achievements to see what people are up to and what they have accomplished.

Anything you’d like to add
Stay Thirsty My Friends.

Karl has been around Runescape for about three years and is someone I would classify as an “expert” because of his knowlege of the game. He is a high level, but doesn’t have the snob attitude some higher levels have. Often I would ask him for advice if there was a quest, or just a random question, and was happy to answer it if he could.

Magical Moneymaking Mining for Runescape F2P & P2P

2

Written on March 25, 2010 by Micki

Magical Moneymakers By Jack
Hi, readers of the Runescape Boards Blog! My name is Jack Wootton. Every week or fortnight (depending on guide); I will be writing a moneymaking guide; entitled ‘Magical Moneymaking’ for RSB and RSH. In this article, you will learn how to make cash through Mining. This is number two in the series. All the content has been researched by me, and none has been plagiarised/copied from any other guide/site

Free-To-Play

Making 100k

As a free to play player, Mining can feel quite slow and daunting, as the experience is slow anyway, but you don’t have the opportunity of a Dragon Pickaxe or Inferno Adze. All you have is your bog-standard Bronze à Rune Pickaxes. There are many ways of making 100k, depending all on your level at the time. If you have level 15 mining, you could mine 387 iron ores. If you have level 30 mining, 358 coal ores would be needed, at 55; 313 mithril ores, and at 70; 83 adamantite ores. An inventory of Adamant ores could take 30 minutes on one world, but if you hopped, 5-10 minutes would be suited at level 70 (entry requirement). Iron is probably the fastest, and easiest, as the bank is extremely close! In a world with ~350 people, iron ore takes 8 seconds to respawn. In a world with 1000, it takes 5.

Making 1M+

Making 1M. People on Pay-to-play with high combat or training stats may laugh at 1 Million; as they can earn 25-400M in a minute, if they get a decent drop at the God Wars Dungeon, or at Corporeal Beast. However for a level 3 skiller or a level 40 new person, the first 1M they earn is usually the one that makes them feel the best. Making 1 Million GP through Mining isn’t the easiest task ever, but is relatively fast, taking less than 5 hours if you know a banking method. For instance, 830 adamant ores is 1M. That’s roughly 30 inventories. For someone with 99 Mining, that might take 2-5 hours. 300 inventories (8400 ores) will take roughly 20-50 ores, and will make you 10M. That’s playing as little as 3-7 hours a day! That can make 9-11 million gp, depending on the price at Min, Med or Max.

Pay-To-Play

Making 100k

When you are pay-to-play, 100k feels like nothing. Making it is easy. If you are of a higher Mining level 80-90; 387 Iron Ore will get you 100k, which if you have a Dragon Pickaxe, will take you 20-30 minutes maximum. If you have a Dragon Pickaxe and 95+ Mining (Rune pickaxe is too slow), consider mining Gold at the living rock caverns, as it will take about an hour for 100k. 100k is 315 Gold Ore or 6 Rune Ores. That’s less than ¼ of an invent. Doing it like that, you can average 3-4M per hour.

Making 1M+

1M. In P2P, that will get you 1/2 of a Dragon Hatchet, or 1/3 of an Abyssal Whip. A lot of players want 1M fast, and one of the fastest methods is Mining Runite Ore. Fetching 17,200gp per ore (Price 23/3/2010) 60 Rune ores? Under 3 Inventories of Rune ore? Taking 2-5 hours depending on your level, that’s crazy. At 2; that’s 500k per hour. That’s one of the only non-combat ways to make 500k+ per hour.

Thanks for reading this article about Mining; and prepare for the next one! Feel free to use this guide in the game of RuneScape, but please don’t copy/plagiarize this guide

Thanks

How to AFK on Runescape

Written on March 4, 2010 by Micki

How to Legitimately “Auto” By Bhim

Disclaimer: I do not condone the use of bots in RuneScape.

If you’ve played RuneScape for more than a week, you’ve no doubt seen (or at least heard of) those infamous “bots” that roam the land, chopping trees and caging fish without respite. The level 3 players you see behind Varrock castle chopping away at yew trees, remaining silent when you ask them their woodcutting level. If you don’t know, a bot is exactly what it claims to be: a robot that performs a specific task for the player while the player is away from RuneScape. If you’ve ever been frustrated with sitting in front of the computer clicking on yew tree after yew tree, only to get a load of logs every twenty minutes because there are so many high level woodcutters around you, it’s likely that you’ve at some point considered using a bot – maybe you’ve even employed the use of one. But if you’ve any sense of morals, or if you get that warm fuzzy feeling inside every time you gain a level because you know that it was your hard work and dedication that made the level possible, then you’ve probably ignored the urges and done all your training yourself. How admirable.

But what about when it comes time to do your homework or read an article on RS Haven? You need to get your work done, but you don’t want to neglect the game. You want to continue to gain levels while you are busy doing other things as well. Sometimes it’s difficult to do so; most of the skills in RuneScape require active participation to gain experience at a healthy rate. If you’re not clicking on something every few seconds you’re really just wasting your time. It’s times like these when you wish you had a bot to do your skilling for you while you focus on your calculus.

This guide will teach you how to cheat the system of cheating. That doesn’t make sense? Allow me to explain. Of all the skills in RuneScape, there are two that can be done passively, and will effectively yield you the experience you desire. Not only that, but you can reap large sums of money from these skills – just by doing your homework! These skills? Fishing and Woodcutting. I’m going to show you how to earn 60k+ per hour as a free player fresh off the boat from tutorial island, all with minimal effort on your part.

Woodcutting is a very popular skill in the world of RuneScape, and as the growing user base of the game consider it to be a fantastic means of making money, it’s no wonder everyone and their preferred RuneScape God is clamoring to be a master axeman. The great thing about woodcutting is that as your level increases and you are able to chop more sturdy trees, the trees hold more and more logs, meaning that you can get numerous logs from a single tree alone. It is for this reason that woodcutting can be such a great skill in the context of this guide. Since this isn’t a woodcutting guide, exactly, the beginner’s information will be sparse. I’ll try to present it in a concise format that is easily comprehended.

From levels 1-15, you’ll be able to only chop regular trees. If you want to bank your logs (they sell for a good price on the grand exchange), chop trees somewhere near a bank (as in, not Al Kharid). If you want to increase your firemaking level while chopping trees, might I suggest the evergreens south of the monastery and just west of Barbarian Village. There are plenty of trees there and you can level really easily. At level 15, oak trees will be available for cutting. Power through these and at level 30 move on to willows. The best place to chop willows is in Draynor Village. There are 6 trees next to the bank, and each load yields nearly 2000 experience at about 5 minutes a load. With dedicated training of a few hours a day, one could probably achieve level 70 woodcutting in a week’s time or so.

Once you have reached level 60, Yews are now choppable. But many people advise waiting until a much higher level to chop Yews. I agree completely. But, because this guide is all about being lazy, perhaps being level 60 won’t be a problem. Plain and simple, you’ll fetch a lot more money if you start cutting yews at level 60, but you’ll earn money at a quicker rate if you start at 70. In RuneScape, there are tons of places to chop your yew logs, but for this guide, I’ll suggest the yews just east of the Grand Exchange. Here’s why: there are three trees and they’re all under three clicks away from a banker. What you’re going to do is get on a relatively empty world, click on a tree, and start chopping. Go do some homework and look up at your screen every couple minutes to make sure the tree is still there. Depending on the amount of people there (there shouldn’t be too many), the trees will take two or three minutes to fall. All you have to do is click on the next tree and wait for your inventory to fill before banking and returning. It will probably take you about 10-15 minutes to fill up your inventory, depending on your level and number of competitors.

If you want to make even more money, use time zones to your advantage! If you live in the United States, for example, go on a US server and abuse your time zone to the fullest. If you live on the east coast, then you’re 3 hours ahead of all those Cali kids. That means that if you get home at 3 o’clock from school, the kids on the west coast are just getting out of class for lunch. So you’ll probably have trees to yourself, because a lot of people in your time zone are still en route getting home or doing something else. Get your homework done before 5 and your parents will be really proud. Similarly, if you’re on the west coast, start your homework at 10 PM, when the east coast kids are all in bed. Really, you can abuse your time zone wherever you are, so take a few minutes to look into that, so you can find the best time to chop for efficiency.

The second (and my preferred) method is fishing. The goal is to get feathers and a fly fishing rod and fly fish until about level 50. (Cook and) sell your fish on the grand exchange and then take 3020 gp with you to Port Sarim. Purchase a lobster cage and take the boat to the island of Karamja. 3000 gp will pay for 50 trips to and from the island, without you ever having to go to a bank. Go to the docks on Karamja and try to cage some lobsters. With only a cage and money in your inventory, you’ll hold 26 lobsters before having to return to the mainland. Take the boat back to Port Sarim and bank your lobsters. A lot of people teleport to a cabbage patch or Falador, but that’s because they don’t know about the deposit box. Yeah there’s a deposit box. As soon as you get off the boat, head north to the boardwalk’s intersection. Go east towards the monks of Entrana. Just by them is a Safety Deposit Box. Dump your lobsters there and head back to Karamja. Lobsters don’t sell for as much as yews do, but I’ll tell you why this method is better. You click once, and then you don’t even have to look at your screen for several minutes. When you check up on your game, just click the inventory button and go back to work. Lobsters cage themselves, and you rarely have to click away. At level 50, one round trip will take about 10 minutes. That means that you can spend 8 minutes doing your homework, then run around for 2 minutes and come back. Did I mention you’d be making lots of money?

Once you’re level 65 fishing, you can start fishing swordfish if you like. Take a break and go play the Fist of Guthix mini-game. Amass 200 tokens and purchase swordfish gloves. These gloves double the experience you’ll earn from catching swordfish and will disintegrate after 1000 fish are caught. Swordies are worth much more than lobsters, but they are caught along with tuna, so fishing will be a much more active task.

With these methods you’re effectively “botting” your way to higher levels and large sums of money. You can really do anything you want while you wait for the game to catch lobsters and chop yews, and if you want to actually play, go do something else, or chat with the other players who are doing the same tasks. What a great way to get your work done and legitimately earn experience and money. In fact, since I started writing this guide, I haven’t logged out of RuneScape once. I must’ve banked a couple hundred lobsters by now…

Slayergramp – Runescape Boards Member Interview

2

Written on February 14, 2010 by Chris

RSB Username?
I have had several different RSB usernames in the past but the most frequent one I am known as is “Slayergramp”. My original name was “runescape retard”, but later Rker forced me to change it to “Runescape Guy” because the other was offensive to some people…
Right now, people see my name as TzTok-Jad, but I plan to change it in the near future.

RS Account Name?
I have actually had 3 previous accounts. My current account is Slayergramp which has been the most successful of them all. Here is the story of my old accounts:

2005: Gramps222 (Scammed for password)
2006: Dragongramps (Permanent ban for password scamming, haha)
2006: Slayergramps (Password Scammed)
2008: Slayergramp (Success)

Name?
Long story short, it’s Nick. My father wanted to name me “Michael” but my mother refused with my middle name being Angelo. Michael-Angelo? Yeah. If my name was Michael, then everyone would make fun of me for my failure of art talent.

Age?
I really haven’t come clear about this in the past. First I claimed to be 11, which I honestly was. I joined Rsb when I was 11 years old, and I’m 14. I am now mature enough to know to come clean. Maybe in a year or two I might post a REAL picture of me. ^_^

Nationality?
I was born in Newport Beach, CA. I am a true patriot and I live for my country, I later moved to Texas (Yeah, I got the accent) when I was 2 years old. When I was 7, I moved to Calgary, Canada. This is where I live now. I have lived in Canada for 7 years now (Lost my accent ) and I am moving to Pasadena, CA in august.

Favourite TV show?
I don’t watch that much TV, but if I had to choose, probably Family Guy. All those other shows are for 9 year olds. I used to like the simpsons, but that humor slowly left me. I also like South Park. Even though it’s only on once a week for 30 minutes at 10:00 PM, I like what I see.

Favourite bands or artists?
I don’t exactly have a favourite… I like so many. I’m more on the Rock Genre side. A few bands that I like include Led Zeppelin, 3 Days Grace, Metallica, and Avenged Sevenfold. I was very upset when I found out that Avenged Sevenfold’s Drummer died!

What sports do you play?
Tons, I like Hockey, Baseball, Soccer, Football, all those. I guess some would consider me a jock but I don’t get to play much in the warm hot heat of Canada.
(I’m kidding)

Top 3 movies?
Oooooo, this is a REALLY tough question… I can’t pick them in a specific order but my 3 favourite movies are these:
1. Jingle All the Way – An old Arnold movie, but a classic. “It’s Turbo Time!” “It really was a bomb? These are SICK people in SICK world…” Epic.
2. Transformers 1&2 – I liked them both. Non stop action is great. I think I liked the second one better than the first one despite the reviews.
3. Iron Man – Great action, amazing graphics. I loved it. Great sense of comedy and humor too.

Top 3 books?
Hate to admit it but I’m not much of a reader… I haven’t read many books but I know my top three.
1. The Lightning Thief – Loved it. Absolutely amazing story line and description. I can’t wait for the movie.
2. King Arthur – Always was a fan of Excalibur. Great story.
3. Harry Potter 4 Goblet of Fire – I read all 7 books and the fourth was always my favourite. Great storyline and great details. The movie is way not as good as the book.

How long have you played Runescape?
As explained above in my RS name, 5 years. Well, 4, but it will be 5 in November.

What motivates you to keep playing Runescape?
Everything. There is so much stuff to do in Runescape. It never gets old. Also, me and my brother play together and if I quit, he quits, if he quits, I quit. Neither of us want to quit.

What do you like most about Runescape? and why?
Achieving a 99. I’m close to my 99 but I know what it feels like from my brother’s perspective. It is extremely exciting when you see it say: Congratulations! Your _____ Level is 99!
Getting the cape.. It feels wonderful.
However, after you have like 6 99s, the feeling is pretty much gone.

How did you find out about Runescape?
My brother. He was playing it one day and I was like “Woaaaaah! Wazzat?” He claimed it was too complicated for me to understand so he didn’t want me to play. A year later, I see an ad for it on a website, I clicked and I signed up.

Runescape skill total?
1198. Should be at 1200 soon enough.

Favourite Runescape skill? and why?
Construction. Yeah it costs a crap load of money but you can’t say “Partay” faster than with Construction.
^Does that even make sense?

How do you best go about training this skill?
I don’t train it very much at all because of the high price. When I see myself with more then 2m in my bank and I don’t need it, I go HOUUUUSE.

Are you a Free 2 Play or Pay 2 Play member? and why?
Pay to play. Being a member has so many great benefits, it’s so worth it. If you are F2p and you are reading this, I highly advise you get P2p.

Favourite or best way to make money on Runescape? and why?
I catch swamp lizards. For me it’s the fastest because I am not good enough to do things like Gwd. Swamp lizards average to about 300k/hr and that’s good enough for me.

Any other Runescape money making tips?
Don’t buy the “Runescape guide to millions”. It’s useless. All the tips are common sense and are found on any Rs website. I’m sure it’s in the article section on Rsb.

Favourite Runescape quest? and why?
Oh wow… There’s only 130 quests for me to choose from…. uhh, from what I’ve done, I would say good ol’ Monkey Madness. Long, hard and aggravating, but everything is so fun. Ninja Monkey = Win.

Favourite Runescape armour and weapons? and why?
Bandos. It looks pretty awesome to me. Bandos + Slayer helm = Sex Bomb. I love it. I like the style, the colors and the spikeyness.

What are your three favourite or most valued Runescape items? and why?
My money – DUH
My Wc axe – A key item to achieving 99 Wcing.
My armour&Weapons – They are expensive and give you your look.

What you like doing most on Runescape? and why?
KBD. I have gone there only once, but it was so much fun.

Favourite Runescape mini game? and why?
Pest Control, XP rewards are most excellent.

What do you think the future holds for Runescape? and why?
Failure. I’m pretty sure that in 5-10 years, Runescape WILL die and less than 1,000 people will ever play it.

What improvements could be made to Runescape? and why?
Another Challenge. They have Corporal Beast, TzTok-Jad, KBD, Kalphite queen and God Wars Dungeon. They need a new boss. That would be awesome.

Your three biggest tips and pieces of advice for players just starting Runescape?
1. Don’t report people for calling you a noob.
2. Don’t tell anyone your pass, even if they are giving you 9,000,000,000,000M
3. It takes about a month to get used to Runescape, so buy a newcomer map.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your Runescape experience?
It’s been good? I have a lot of fun on Runescape. It never gets old.

How did you find out about Runescape Boards?
Lookin’ for cheats and hacks for Rs and this website came up, lmao.

What made you stay at Runescape Boards?

Why wouldn’t I stay?
