Factfile on Isaac
Full Name: Isaac Rivers
Age: 17 years young
Location: Ohio, U.S.
Hobbies: Biking, Snowboarding, Swimming, Drawing, Graphics, Video Games, and as of recently, guitar.
Aspirations: Well recently, I’ve been really getting into guitar as I said. It would be awesome if I could continue to improve on that. I’m still not sure what I’d like to do career-wise. I have a lot of varied interests and I haven’t found something that has really stood out as something I’d like/be able to do for a living. For the near future, I’m likely going to go to college and hopefully find something for a career idea from there.
RuneScape Name: Darkchaos33. I’m pretty inactive nowadays, but I still enjoy popping into the RSB CC once in a while.
Interview with Isaac, conducted by Incogneto
Why do you think you were chosen to become a Moderator at RSBoards?
Isaac: Probably mainly because of my relatively good level of activity, accurate reports, and the usually well structured wording and punctuation in my posts. It wasn’t a huge necessity, but the amount of reported posts and overall spam had been building up a bit, and the staff was looking to promote someone to a moderator position to help clean up.
And apparently I was that special someone who was elected to become the next janitor of RSBoards =P
So far, how are you liking your new role?
Isaac: It’s been great so far! Actually I was afraid to do anything very drastic at all during the first few days out of fear of doing something wrong, but it’s been getting easier to judge what sort of action I should take depending on the severity and conditions of the said thread or posts in question.
What is the best thing about being a Moderator, from your perspective?
Isaac: There are a lot of things, but I think it’s especially great to be able to quickly do away with spam or flaming posts. It’s easier to cut through the problem ASAP as opposed to before where I’d report something and then have to wait on someone else to take care of it. Oh, and as of recently, it’s made me more desirable for interviews, apparently =P
What is the worst thing about being a Moderator for RSB also?
Isaac: A lot of the time it’s judging exactly how harsh I should be when I give an infraction, warning, or just when I delete something a member has posted. I don’t want to go over-board, but it’s not like I want to appear soft, either. It’s difficult trying to stay consistent.
Have you a certain role model among your senior staff, someone who inspired you?
Isaac: Ah yikes. I’ll try to keep the list short. Even when I was just getting started on the boards, Willie and Micki always seemed like awesome staff members in my eyes. They seemed to really have a connection with the community- both the older members and the newer ones.
Rker was also pretty influential as a member who I had aspired to be like as a member of the boards. On a side note, I was sorry to
hear he had stepped down as admin, but I’m sure Ace and Hadd will do an excellent job as our new board administrators.
What is your best memory from RuneScape?
Isaac: Quitting =P ?
Nah, my best memories are probably from back when I was still new to the game, but I always did a lot of stuff with some of my close real-life friends who also played.
You seem to have mentioned a bit about the guitar, what inspired you into trying it out?
Isaac: I’ve always enjoyed music, but in recent years I felt like it had literally changed my life. It’s actually something I’ve wanted to start doing for awhile, but a family friend of mine said he would help me get started and improve, and here I am now, basically. Oh, and I’m doing it to pick up chicks, but that’s an obvious reason =P
What is your favourite band?
Isaac: I probably sound like a broken record, because whenever I’m asked this nowadays, it’s definitely Pink Floyd.
Do you like any sport teams, like football teams or baseball?
Isaac: I haven’t been much of an avid professional sports watcher nowadays, but I’ve always been pulling for my hometown teams like the Cavs, Indians, and Browns.
On RuneScape, what is your worst memory?
Isaac: Honestly, I kind of regret Runescape as a whole just because of how much time it sucked out of my life where I could have been doing something productive. I was, however, hacked once and lost everything in my bank before the PIN update, so I suppose I would name that as the worst thing that actually happened to me in-game.
What is your favourite memory at RSB?
Isaac: Probably being promoted to moderator. As a whole, though, the best thing has definitely been meeting the awesome, unique, etc. members of the community.
Thank you for your time Isaac, have you got anything to stay to the readers of the Blog?
Isaac: Shine on you crazy diamonds!
